My Daily Hair Care Routine After Scalp Psoriasis

After spending years trying to get my scalp psoriasis under control, I realized something important.

Taking care of my scalp was only part of the journey.

Now I had to learn how to take care of my hair.

Because I have an oily scalp and I'm managing scalp psoriasis, I wash my scalp almost every single day.

I know that surprises some people because we're often told that washing our hair daily isn't good for it.

For me, it's exactly the opposite.

If I skip too many washes, my scalp quickly becomes oily, buildup starts to develop, and that's usually when I begin noticing irritation or the start of a flare-up.

Daily scalp cleansing has become one of the most important habits in my routine.

Over the years, I've found products that work well together and help me keep both my scalp and my hair healthy.

My Shampoo Routine

I like to rotate between two shampoos.

The first is Paul Mitchell Tea Tree Special Shampoo.

I absolutely love the refreshing feeling it gives my scalp.

The tingling sensation makes my scalp feel incredibly clean, and I genuinely enjoy the fresh scent. It has become one of my favorite shampoos for keeping my scalp feeling refreshed between psoriasis treatments.

The second shampoo I regularly use is Kérastase Specifique Balancing Shampoo for Oily Scalp.

Because the Paul Mitchell shampoo is more expensive, I like alternating it with Kérastase.

It does an excellent job cleansing excess oil while leaving my hair feeling soft instead of stripped.

For someone like me who has an oily scalp, finding that balance has been incredibly important.

I'll include links to both shampoos below and on my Resources page.

I Never Skip Conditioner

One mistake I used to make was focusing so much on my scalp that I forgot about the rest of my hair.

Today, after shampooing, I only apply conditioner and treatments from the mid-lengths of my hair down to the ends.

One product I've come to love is the Kérastase Nutritive Hair Mask.

It helps keep my ends hydrated, soft, and healthy, especially because daily washing can dry out the lower part of the hair over time.

It's become one of my favorite weekly treatments.

My Favorite Frizz Control Product

Living in South Florida means humidity is simply part of everyday life.

No matter how healthy my hair is, humidity always tries to win.

One product that has made a noticeable difference for me is OUAI Anti-Frizz Cream.

It helps smooth my hair, control frizz, and leaves it looking polished without feeling heavy or greasy.

For my hair type, it's been one of those products that I continue repurchasing because it simply works.

Why I Invested in a Dyson Hair Dryer

One of the biggest investments I've made for my hair was purchasing the Dyson Supersonic Nural Hair Dryer.

At first, I wasn't sure if it was worth the price.

But because I wash my hair almost every day, I knew I needed a dryer that could dry my hair efficiently without exposing my scalp to excessive heat.

After doing a lot of research, I decided to invest in it.

It's one of the best beauty purchases I've made.

What I appreciate most is that it dries my hair incredibly fast while helping reduce heat exposure compared to many traditional hair dryers.

One feature I especially like is its intelligent heat control, which is designed to help prevent extreme heat damage by continuously regulating temperature.

The Scalp Protect Mode was another feature that caught my attention because it automatically adjusts heat to help maintain a more comfortable drying temperature near the scalp.

Since I spend so much time caring for my scalp, choosing a dryer that supports that goal made perfect sense.

For me, it has been worth every penny.

My Hair Care Philosophy

One thing I've learned over the last several years is that healthy hair doesn't come from one miracle product.

It comes from consistency.

It's the small habits.

The daily routines.

The products you enjoy using.

And taking the time to care for yourself, even when life gets busy.

That's what has made the biggest difference for me.

You'll find all of these products on my Resources page, where I share products I personally use and recommend, along with products that have been highly recommended by my family and close friends.
